![]() Cisco Ftd License Will DoIm thinking a 5 yr Plus license will do us good instead, but wondering if Ill run into issues down the road applying this license to the ASA.Im considering the L-AC-PLS-5Y-S2 SKU, but on the documentation above, page 12, section 6.0.1 it says: The product activation key (PAK) is used only for the initial headend serial number(s) that you register.Cisco Ftd Code On TheFor subsequent registrations, you request an activation code on the Cisco.com license portal Im curious if Ill have trouble applying this license to our ASA when purchased through our vendor, or if I need to register the ASA, go through the portal, and order the licenses through that outlet. Anyone have expertise to share here Thanks community 5 comments share save hide report 81 Upvoted This thread is archived New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast Sort by best. And yes, the perpetual licenses are too expensive to make any sense. I think you need to license all possible users, and not simultaneous, with the 5 year option though. The VPN-only license is for an organization that has thousands of users but only a few connections, so you can license per session instead of per user because its still cheaper that way. Thats supposedly why its so expensive, as its only for a specific use-case. Continue this thread level 1 2 points 1 year ago If you are planning to use ASA code forever and NOT jump to FTD code, it has been my experience that a term license is permanent in its implementation. Also, on the ASA, getting a 25-user license will unlock the platform-maximum for your ASA. TL;DR getting a 1Y 25-seat license will put you in the same place as a perpetual 10,000 user license on the ASA, ethics aside. The PAK can be used up to 9999 times because the license is per USER and that user may connect to any one of your ASAs in your organization. FTD uses smart licensing and the userterm is actually metered. Then you submit your ASA serial number in the license portal against that PAK and receive an activation code from them that you paste into the ASA CLI. ![]() View entire discussion ( 5 comments) More posts from the Cisco community Continue browsing in rCisco rCisco Welcome to Cisco 46.7k Members 174 Online Created Jun 18, 2008 Join help Reddit App Reddit coins Reddit premium Reddit gifts about careers press advertise blog Terms Content policy Privacy policy Mod policy Reddit Inc 2020.
